Dear Jeffrey Campbell,

Please make these in black.

Decades Window

It is one of my duties at work to change the window display every week. I enjoy doing it, but lately (as in real life) I haven't been incredibly inspired.

I did like what I came up with this week though! Each mannequin is themed from a different decade...50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s.

You can't see the 50s dress at all, but it's a wonderful black, silk crepe dress with a circle skirt and a bow at the front of the waist. Wonderful. Sorry for the atrocious pictures in general. Dang that glare, I wish I could get good photos of the windows.

The whole thing. It actually reads right to left starting with the 50s.

70s and 60s. Oh GOODNESS that bronze sequin shift is AMAZING. I put it on and it falls JUST under my bum. Even with opaque tights I don't think it will work. The white disco-Dynasty ensemble is wonderful as well.

80s. There is a black dress you can't see here too. It's fantastic with mesh cutouts at the waist.

I was trying to help my theme along by displaying accessories from the eras under the dresses. This is 50s.

Inside of this amazing "special pill case" are the tiniest pair of golden tongs with which to fetch special pills.

DIY Fringed Platforms

I've talked way too much about these shoes, but I'm obsessed. Here's the story: I ordered them from Topshop, got them, they are too big! Frustrated and too broke to risk buying the smaller ones, I decided to try it DIY style.

I started off with these Steve Maddens, which I found on clearance on the low-low.

Then, I went to the craft store and bought a sheet of black suede which I cut in half and fringed.

Then I sewed the fringe to the ankle straps of the shoes and used a cotton ball to dab craft paint on the shoes to matte out the promtastic shiny material.

So what do you guys think? Do they look mega ghetto? Honesty is the best policy!

Love Gun

I'm off tomorrow and after I take care of a couple of errands, I'm planning to stay home all day and work on my massive sewing pile! I'm also going to try to make a dress and scarf.

I will also mention that one of the errands I have to do tomorrow is take my computer into the shop. It is broken and I don't know why.

I also couldn't deal with it anymore and cut my bangs. The second I did it, I looked in the mirror and it was 100 times better!

Flavor of the Day

I had been contemplating these studded shoes for a few weeks before I went to the store to check them out. I was afraid the heel was too low, but it turns out they're pretty perfect for working in or when you want a heel that's not too high!

Dog Days

I have to be honest. I'm finding myself obsessing over the next seasons and am completely bored with Summer. In an effort to snap myself back into my Floridian reality, I've decided to try and refresh the season and enjoy the rest of it. I probably have 3 more months until I can even start pulling from my already extensive dream book of Fall ideas, so I better make the most of what I've got!

What are you wearing to ride out the rest of the Summer?

A couple of months back, I made a list of Summertime goodness and I'm going to think happy thoughts about that all over again:

Denim shorts in the form of slouchy cut offs, and high waisted and cuffed.
Fringed t-shirts. Hell, maybe even beaded.
Trashy airbrushed shirts
Heart shaped shades
Native American beaded jewelry
Crochet bikini in a 70's cut
A perfect pair of highwaisted, flared jeans
Silver and torquoise jewelry
"Ethnic" printed minidresses
T-shirt dresses
Feathered anything, especially dresses!
Higher Gladiator Flats (probably in brown)
Vintage fest with long fringe
Head Scarves
Wedges and Wooden-Heeled Platforms
Gauzy dresses
70's style sun hats

Here are some photos that are keeping me inspired:

New Picks

You'll notice these are mostly shoes. I'm not buying any new Summer stuff, even if I do live in Florida and "Fall" will be the week in November where it's 70 degrees, as opposed to 90. Still, a girl can dream.

These are just about the perfect bootie with a silvertone zip on either side by Jessica Simpson on sale right now at Nordstrom.

I picked these up yesterday from F21. I'd been contemplating them for weeks via the website but was afraid the heel was too low, making them look too cheesey. I was in the store yesterday looking at them from every angle in the mirror when an older lady resembling Barbie's Grandma said "Honey, they're so cute!" That was plenty for me. The heel height isn't unreasonably low (probably 3.5" - 3.75") and will be perfect when I want a heel, but will be doing a lot of walking or standing. Win!

A blatant knock off of the Extreme by Dior. I dig them pretty hard and the versatility is wonderful, but am afraid they'll become too played out soon and I won't be able to work them as much into Fall as I'd like. These are from Baker's.

A variation of the above by Steve Madden. I'm into the purple snake!

Again, the purple is really speaking to me and these suede lace-ups from Nine West would work as well now as they will in the months to follow.

These are fantastically trashy and the Vixen fan in me can't help but love the red patent and zipper. Not to mention the cheap price tag from Gojane.com.

Oh look, a skirt! I've been keeping my eye out for a great floral skirt or dress to wear with intimidating black heels and this one with its watercolor feel looks just the part! I can see it in the seasons to come with opaque tights in any of the hues in the skirt and matching colored mary janes.
